Integrating Existence

Integrating Existence: from anthozoans to mycorrhizal webs was presented for PNCA’s MFA thesis exhibition in August 2020. This immersive installation incorporated three large scale sculptures and several smaller sculptural components, all bathed in colored light. Viewers were invited to enter the room and take a seat in the central Sea Anemone Chair and become part of the whimsical environment.

This body of work utilized primarily discarded materials such as fabric from used clothing, a secondhand bathmat, window screen material and plastic. The work implies connection between distant ecosystems and complicates our categorical perspective of the nonhuman world.
