Adventuring Anemones

Adventuring Anemones is a series of staged photographs featuring small anemone- like soft sculptures in different environmental settings. These gelatin replicas perform biomimicry in natural settings, and question our ideas of both art and ‘the wild’.

Alternatively, when they are arranged on synthetic materials in an indoor setting, there is a further illusion and cognitive dissonance from the living organisms they reference. In either case, these photographs suggest potential narratives or ‘lives’ for the gelatin anemones out in the world. This project arose as a creative avenue after loosing access to my studio during the COVID-19 pandemic.
